Training for an Ultra-Marathon Swim

An ultra-marathon swim in cold salty water presents a challenge that one can only prepare for through the experience of progressively building up to longer swims in similar ocean conditions and water temperature. Swims must include rehearsed nutrition and feeding practices. Proper training is essential, but your physical ability will only take you so far; the right mental preparation and unwavering determination is essential to your success.

For additional advise on training and preparation, visit the Santa Barbara Channel Swimming Association and read, Training for a Marathon Swim - written by SBCSA board member, Evan Morrison.
