Swim Selection

Monterey Bay offers a variety of swims to challenge all levels of swimmers. Each swim has its own unique characteristics, challenges, and qualifying swim requirements.

If you are new to open water marathon swimming, you may want to start with one of the recommended swim routes (non-sanctioned swims).

If you are an experience ultra-marathon swimmer, check out the two MBSA sanctioned swims.

Do this:
BEFORE submitting your application to swim.

MBSA will only sanction swims piloted by qualified pilots and boats. Refer to Pilot Boat Charters for more information.

Refer to TIPS: Selecting Crew for information on selecting your support and safety crew.

Contact MBSA if you have any questions or need support finding a boat/pilot or selecting a crew.
